So, I realize that Mother's Day was almost two weeks ago, but I'm still going to share with you what I made for my mom.
I wasn't really sure what I should give her; at this point jewelry, gift cards, perfume, framed photos just seem redundant. At the very last moment when I HAD to commit to something, a conversation I'd had with her a few months ago came to my mind. I'm pretty sure there was a big cartoon light bulb over my head at that exact second. She had mentioned in passing that she needed new stationery. So I thought to myself, "I can do that!"
I pulled paper from October Afternoon's (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE) Cakewalk product line. I was inspired by how well the plaid and floral papers merged into cohesive mom-friendly cards. I also accessorized with a dollar store doily, a strip of Martha Stewart paper tape, paper flower embellishments that I made out of paper punches, and flowers that are the product of my recent obsession with clay molds. I only made four cards, in fear that my mom may hate them, but I think this may be my new obsession. I can see how people can really focus on card making.
To package them up, I used a glassine (wax paper) bag and attached another doily to it. I made my own little paper flower embellishment with a flag to pull the entire feel together.
